GRAND
FINAL
Monday 25th
March 2002
The Grand Final
was great to watch. There was no
camping, as we’ve seen in last couple of grand finals, and a lot of action went
on at Red Base, which is good coz that’s the only base you can watch from the
observation deck.
Congratulations to Bali Belly, who won the night, and what a great birthday
present that must have been for Pyro. As usual, Kimbo was the perfect winner, not gloating, but congratulating the other two
teams on games well played. As he said,
it was a team effort, and they deserved it.
Coming in second was That’s Amazing. Well
done guys, and maybe next season is your season. They also showed great sportsmanship, by
shaking the hands of the winners.
And third on the ladder was Tetris. You
played really well, and it was great to see the stronger players on your team
supporting the weaker ones.
Bootza won this season’s Fairest and Best,
once again. Having quit playing a few
weeks back he wasn’t around to collect his trophy, but it’s great that he quit
on a high note.
He was probably afraid of getting knocked off his
throne by all the up and coming stars, one of which was his teammate Devil. Our youngest league member gets awarded the Most Improved trophy, and it’s well deserved.
The MVP award was very
close, with only 1 point separating first and second place. Congratulations to Ronin 441, who obviously played just that bit better in
the last week of league, to earn himself that extra vote.
Also handed out
were the season’s Silly Awards, as Wombat likes to call them. These go to
players that do something funny during the season, just so they know, that we
are never ever going to let them live it down.
The first of these awards
went to Bad Ass Kev and Pakman.
It was called the Prankster Award, and was given to them for,
quite cleverly, managing to hold Antichrist out of Red Base on
Semi-Finals Night, when neither of them had any ammo, or trigger re-loads
left. Bad Ass Kev was also given The
Nookie Award for missing the first few weeks of comp because he got a new
girlfriend.
TT Boy, was awarded the
Most Improved Team Work award, and it’s quite obvious why. He played very well in his team this season,
and the results showed when they won. In
his speech, Kimbo said he didn’t understand why everyone said that about TT
Boy. He obviously never saw how TT
Boy used to play. Wombat
hunted through the Kahuna photos and found one of TT Boy to put on the
award, and after he received it was heard to say, “Man, I look really good
in this photo.” What can I say? You can teach him how to play team, but
you’ll never be able to deflate that ego we’ve come to know so well. J
That’s Amazing got two Silly
Awards. The Cadbury Kid award
going to Slimey for getting really drunk after like 3 glasses of punch
at the Kahuna. And Chunky earned
himself the Crowder Lemming award, for always seeming to crowd
people. Leave him alone, he just needs a
hug. J
The Bad Karma award went to Brooklyn
for her seemingly endless supply of bad luck with team members this
season. First of all, Karma went
to Sydney, so she asked C.A.T. to fill in. He said OK, and then took off to Bali. So she asked Devil to fill in. Then in second week of comp, at the Doubles
Tournament, Mr Ass threw his knee out, so was forced to skip the rest of
the season. Then, with two weeks left
til the end of the season, Bootza pulled the plug on his Zone playing
career. Hmmm…who’s playing with her next
season? Good Luck J
And last but not least, The
Happily Ever After Award was given to Shoddy and SuperBunny
who announced a few weeks back that they were getting married. Once again, congratulations guys.
Well that’s it from me this season, but I’ll be back next season, so
just watch what you say or you might find it written up here. J
